Our Wheelchair for dogs allows the animal to have activity and autonomy, thus regaining its physical and mental health. The use of a wheelchair can be key to achieving good recovery in animals with reversible paraplegia. 

It has 2 main uses: 

1. Auxiliar device for dogs with reduced mobility in the hind limbs. The animal will have support to move its own legs freely. Ensures autonomy and prevents muscle loss and ankylosis due to prolonged disuse. Allows for mobility recovery.
2. Full support of the hindquarters in paralyzed dogs. Ensures autonomy and prevents skin ulcers due to permanent support on the bed or floor. Depending on the injury, the dog may regain mobility, as we increase the dog's activity and allow it to attempt movements with its legs.   

The most common situations in which we use wheelchairs for dogs are hip dysplasia, arthritis, disc herniation, proprioceptive deficits, as an aid during rehabilitation, or to immobilize the hind limbs after surgery.

Characteristics

The design of this wheelchair is unique and has been approved and improved by expert veterinarians. Made with aluminum parts and designed to be easily adjustable to each dog's size. Measurements

You only need to know the approximate weight and the measurement from the ground to the groin. Select the weight range and the desired color (blue or pink) from the dropdown menu.

The size for dogs weighing less than 4 kg is only available in blue at the moment.

Adjustment Period

The keys to success regarding the dog's adaptation to the wheelchair lie in its willingness to walk and in the good condition of its front legs. Thus, a happy dog, with appetite and willingness to move, and who drags himself around the house using his front limbs will be eternally grateful to you for providing him with a wheelchair. With the wheelchair, you can enjoy walks together again, and you can feel your dog pulling on the leash once more.

In general, adaptation is achieved on the same day we introduce the self-adjustable wheelchair. In cases where the animal has had a long period of inactivity and muscle atrophy, we should make a progressive introduction so that the muscles of the front legs strengthen: in a few days, we will see how the dog goes from lying down all day to having almost normal activity. Upon purchasing the wheelchair, you will receive a series of tips to help you in the process.

If you are unsure whether the dog will adapt well to the wheelchair, we offer the possibility of renting. It also has accessories such as compatible rear lift harness or front wheels.

For dogs weighing more than 11 kg and measuring more than 43 cm from the ground to the groin, you can choose pneumatic wheels when making the purchase by selecting the corresponding option from the dropdown menu. Lightweight wheels are more economical and suitable for daily use, although less durable. In contrast, pneumatic wheels are more expensive and heavier, but they offer better grip on all types of terrain, greater durability, and allow adjusting the air pressure for better cushioning.

In addition to restoring the dog's mobility and self-esteem, the wheelchair also improves muscle tone, acting very positively on its overall health.
